Karon Beach, a long stretch of white sand beach, is a perfect destination for visitors who are looking for a blissful escape away from the crowds. Spectacular scenery, warm blue sea, and awe-inspiring tropical sunsets are just some of the pleasures that await you on this beautiful beach in Phuket. Located about three kilometres south of Patong, directly north of Kata Beach, Karon allows you to be as near and as far from the crowds as you want. The spectacular surroundings have attracted artists from around the world and it is little wonder then that Karon is home to a number of painters who have set base here.

Beach Activities

Apart from lazing away the hours under the sun, you can participate in a number of water activities including swimming, jet-skiing and parasailing. The beach also has some of the best windsurfing conditions in Phuket. Snorkelling can be found by the rocks at the south end. You can also pamper your body to a refreshing Thai massage in the shaded areas right on the beach.

Dining

Karon Beach has a number of restaurants where you can enjoy your meals while taking in the magnificent views of the pine trees, the rolling dunes and the spectacular sunsets. A number of restaurants are located on the Karon road. If you are looking for authentic Thai food, you simply must try the hot-food stalls that serve noodle soup, satay and fried bananas on Thanon Taina road.

Beach Nightlife

Though much quieter than the Patong beach, Karon does have some beer bars that support the tourists. However, if you are looking for something more happening, nightclubs, discos and other entertainment centres are just a few meters away. The main action is concentrated on Luang Poh Chuan Road and to some extent the Aroona Karon complex.
